Recommended Settings

Some recommended settings to get your account started.

Setting up effective exclusion rules in Click Guardian is a balance between protection and performance. While the platform offers powerful tools to block fraudulent or unwanted clicks, the ideal configuration depends on your business size, web traffic, ad strategy, and offering. That means there’s no universal “set it and forget it” setup—but we can help you get started with sensible defaults.

Getting Started with Rule Recommendations

Below are general guidelines based on business size. These are intended to help you build a baseline strategy that can be fine-tuned over time.

For Small to Medium-Sized Businesses

If you're running a local or growing business with modest traffic levels, you'll want to be cautious without being overly restrictive. These settings strike that balance:

Excessive Clicking Rules:

  • Block if 3 clicks in 1 day

  • Block if 5 clicks in 7 days

We also recommend enabling:

  • Device Fingerprinting – Helps track users who return using different IPs.

  • Block Visitor with JavaScript Disabled – Prevents visits from sources that may be using outdated or suspicious setups.

These rules help guard against repeated clicking without blocking genuine interest or return visits from potential customers.

For Enterprise-Level Businesses

If your organisation runs high-traffic campaigns or operates at scale, you may benefit from more aggressive settings—especially those that help you manage the limited number of exclusions allowed by platforms like Google Ads.

In this case, we recommend looking at:

  • High-Volume Ranking – This setting helps prioritise which IPs to block by analysing click patterns across your entire traffic profile. It's ideal for identifying bulk offenders and making the most of your exclusion capacity.

Keep in Mind

These are just starting points. Your settings should evolve with your campaign performance and traffic behaviour. We encourage you to monitor blocked visits regularly via the IP Exclusions page and adjust your rules based on real-world patterns.

If you're unsure about any setting, our Settings guide offers more detail on what each rule does and how it can help.
