Viewing and Managing IP Exclusions

Updated over 8 months ago

Click Guardian automatically excludes visitors based on a combination of advanced internal algorithms and rules you've set in your Settings. The IP Exclusions page gives you a clear view of all excluded visitors and allows you to manually add or remove exclusions as needed.

What You’ll See on the Exclusions Table

Each row in the table represents a visitor who was excluded because they broke one of your configured rules. These automatic exclusions help prevent repeated, low-quality traffic and protect your advertising spend.

The table includes the following columns:

Timestamp

The date and time the exclusion was triggered.

IP Address / Fingerprint

Shows the IP address or device fingerprint of the blocked visitor, depending on how they were identified.

Rule Broken

Indicates which specific rule was violated to cause the exclusion—such as Excessive Clicking, Location Restrictions, or Global Threat Network detection.

Remove Block

A trashcan icon button that lets you manually remove the exclusion, lifting the block on that visitor.

This page helps you monitor how your rules are being enforced and offers the flexibility to make real-time adjustments.

Filtering by Timeframe

To view data from a specific period, use the dropdown menu above the table to select a timeframe. Available options include:

  • Today

  • Yesterday

  • Last 7 Days

  • Last 30 Days

  • This Month

  • Last Month

  • Custom Range

When a new range is selected, the table will automatically update to reflect data from that timeframe.

Exporting the Data

You can download the exclusions table by clicking the “Export” button, which generates a .csv file. This is useful for archiving, sharing with colleagues, or analysing trends over time.

Adding a Manual IP Exclusion

If a visitor isn’t automatically blocked but you believe they should be, you can add their IP address manually:

  1. Click the ‘Add Manual IP Exclusion’ button.

  2. Fill in the prompt with:

    • IP Address to exclude – This can be IPv4 or IPv6. IP range exclusion is only supported for IPv4 addresses.

    • Google Ads Account – Select the account where the exclusion should apply. The exclusion will only affect the selected account.

Manual exclusions are helpful when you notice suspicious behaviour that hasn’t been captured by your existing rules.

FAQs

Can I apply a manual exclusion to all Google Ads accounts at once?
No, exclusions are applied on a per-account basis. To block the same IP across multiple accounts, you’ll need to add it to each one individually.

Why do some entries show a fingerprint instead of an IP address?
Device fingerprinting is used when an IP address is hidden, dynamic, or otherwise unavailable. This helps identify users more accurately across visits.

What happens if I remove an exclusion?
The visitor will no longer be blocked and may begin seeing your ads again, unless they trigger a rule in the future.
